Temps Perdu – Croix De Chambre

This has taken a bit longer than expected, but we are pleased with the end results. We went to get things like door handles and other accessories on Saturday and between watching the Grand Prix and Top Gear I managed to get quite a bit done. There are a few minor detail things to finish off… isn’t there always. But it’s all up and running now and it’s so nice to have a working loo just next to the office rather than having to chase upstairs to the other end of the house!

As you can see in the first picture I’ve also put up some kitchen cupboards ex-Pembury on the outside wall of the loo, this is where I’m going to have my electronics workbench which I will be building sometime in the next few weeks.

Alison went back on the train on Monday for Philip’s university graduation in Nottingham. Everything went to plan and she got back this evening. Here are some of the photos of the day.

Well the major works are finished and the loo is now all working. Still to do is some tiling and decoration which will happen sometime next week. This weekend we will be having a big clean up around the house now all the dust has settled!

The small alcove to the right of the door will have some shelves added to it for storage of small items, towels, soap etc. We also have a mirrored corner cupboard and a towel rail to go up.

Well the work has carried on this week. Plaster boarding is now complete and all the electrics are in. The next stage is the taping and filling of the joints. Once that is done the sink and loo will be installed. Then the room will need painting and a few finishing touches applied such as door handles!

Wine Cellar

Work has been taking place this week to build our additional loo down in the basement. We discovered last year that there is a mains drainage connection there, so adding a loo in a corner of the basement we thought should prove to be fairly straight forward.

The new loo is virtually next door to our downstairs office so it will be less of a chore to go to the loo at the other end of the house when you are downstairs. We have also made the loo a reasonable size room so anyone staying and sleeping downstairs, could use the loo as a changing room. Additionally we have added a door to separate off the wine cellar, hopefully this will keep this room a bit cooler than it has been.
